Rest Home

first news shatters
quiet time for the brain

uncertainty triggers
busywork for the hands

her eyes are still
seeking clues to answers

my eyes discover
questions of my own

a clock keeps chiming
each hour's sleep, away

  1. Such succinct an touching images... I can feel the ache in this.

  2. It's nice to hear from you, Francis. Thank you for your comment. It means a lot to me.

  3. Kay, I second Francis.

May I ask why you italicized "away"? (maybe I missed something)

  4. I think the italicized "away" here works. It suggests a change in register and level, even from life to death. I find this a very sobering, frightening poem. Exceptional, Kay.

  5. Hello friends. Thank you for such kind words.

Chen-ou: I have no idea why I italicized the word. I think it resounded in my head a certain way and it needed distinction. Many times I write first and think later. Sometimes it works better that way. :)

Brian: So glad to have your comments again. Surprisingly, there is a window of writing time each day, and it seems to be very therapeutic. I hope to be back for a while.

To all! Notice: Pajamas has been writing a steady stream this December. What a nice surprise for the holidays!!

    With love,
