A New Year

dawn arrives
on the maple
seventy times seven
crescent moons germinate
in dewdrops

  1. Elaine,

Happy New Year. It is good to hear from you. Thank you for such a kind comment.

May the year be reflective for us both.

  2. Kay, ditto what Elaine said.

I wonder if "seventy times seven" (which, biblically speaking, means numerously/countlessly) might add religious significance/depth to the poem.

Just a thought for you to use or lose.

  3. Yes, "seven times seven" gives a certain enigmatic depth to a very rich poem. Reflective indeed, Kay.

  4. Thanks, Chen-ou and Brian. I believe "seventy" is what I intended. I've made a revision.

    Always,
    Kay
