trumpeting

swans sing
souls wing
white breasted
freedom

if I could fly

my fingertips would quiver
in slippery streams of air
city of Tena's breath
held fast beneath
a cloudy draft

  1. Both very lyrical with their on and off rhymes. Lovely.

  2. Kay, I second Brian. And the imagery is arresting.

May I ask what "city of Tena's breath" refers to?

  3. Hi all,

    Thank you for your comments.

Chen-ou: the city of Tena is a play on tenacity.

  4. Kay,

Thanks for telling me this. I didn't catch it in the first place. It adds an extra level of meaning to the poem.
