Jacob slept upon a stone
clouds tumbled down to join
where angels walked in silence
I dreamt the stairs' cold stone
beneath bare soles where I
walked and sang with angels
distressed upon my cloudy wake
the songs no longer understood
my mind--no stones--alone
The Biblical allusion adds religious significance and emotional weight to the poem.
ReplyDeleteThe transition/connection between S1 and S2 is brilliant. And the use of the hyphenated phrases/word is emotionally poignant.
