I once bottled thoughts
too young to spill
nourishment
grains grew ears
combines
sharpened blends
meat was butchered
chopped
processed
until questions rose
like blood
in the garden
where truth
cried out for mercy
bread cried out
loaves, fish, wine, and salt
men and women eat
but do not share
if they share
it's bitter herbs
He said, "love your neighbor."
"until questions rose

A contemporary portrait of Christian Communion?
I enjoyed reading your reflection on faith.

Hi Chen-ou,
ReplyDeleteI used food to demonstrate growth and the gleaning of knowledge. I know that the more I study, the more I don't know.
In terms of faith, I was asked what I believe, and I think the two items Christ addresses: "Love the Lord your God" and "Love your neighbor" are what I strive for.
I like food as a metaphor, and this poem can address different needs. (I hope it does.)
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
