    The title, which alludes to Snow White ("Mirror, mirror on the wall / Who in the land is fairest of all?, is effectively utilized as the opening line.

    The biblical allusion adds emotional weight to the poem.

    Vanity can mean "vain," but it is also a piece of furniture with a mirror. I won't say which reveals more...
