Aftermath

the sun
full of blood
earth fires up
the mirror

ribbons above
blue sky
barracades
eastern mountains

the west
hazed by rose ash
sinks below
the sights

  2. Kay, the connotations of "eastern mountains" and "the west" intrigue me.

  3. Tremendous opening stanza. I especially like the uh assonance with “sun,” “blood,” and “up” — before that vivid shift to “the mirror.”

  5. You're (we)lcome, Kay. Wish I were as good of a see-er and editor of my own stuff as with others' writing. Nevertheless, our "sights" are being sharpened by one another.
