Her Black-Bottom Cupcakes

Fillings exude
Smooth
Harmonious cream
Dotted with staccatos
Bittersweet decadence
Insulated in chocolate

Like cake I rose
Fell
Filled with staccatos
And carefully assembled
Pleats of pastel
Paper wrapping

Time ferments
Odysseys
Ageless ingredients meld
Rich crumbs emerge
Retracing Mother's tongue
And fingertips

Happy Birthday, Mom
I love you
