New Wine

plums pour forth purple
skins to hold their wines intact--
some burst on the ground

impacting breaks pact
of old, skeins of fruity thread
release pits anew

  1. The imagery is riveting.

The theme explored in the poem faintly echoes that of the New Wine parable.

  2. Yes, that was where it went. I began with the plums, which are ripening and falling. I hope the second haiku was finished before you read. We're online together, LOL!

  4. I like the connection between these two affirming the potential inherent in both preservaton AND destruction ("If a seed fall" also comes to mind).

Many bibilical nuances here. That Jesus could be pretty darn pithy!
