Writer's Block

For Chen-ou and Brian:
I won't label my poem Sanqu without full understanding of the form. I know it paints a moment in time. For a commentary on Sanqu see Chen-ou's blog. For lovely examples see his " Translation Project 2010, IX: Autumn Thoughts, A Chinese Sanqu" and Brian's poem, "Waxing Summer Moon," on his blog, Kirigirisu.

cluttered desk
open window
chirping nestlings

empty clothesline
fluttering grape leaves
rooftop shadows

bitter coffee
quiet keyboard
family photo

purring cat
traffic sounds
pensive poet
staring at life
