Immersion

I am disrobed of air from head to toe
as the cold water wraps around my skin.
It warms as I flow through it,
creating currents to diffuse life's irritations.
The soundless womb of freedom
permeates my mind and dispels the clutter.

Alas, the need to breathe supplants my reprieve,
and I am betrayed by that which gives life.
I appeal the need for sanctuary
with an offering of skin.
My repartee, a small breath, expertly concealed;
with effervescent nebulosity,
I dip once more into the font.
